Description

The property of Domaine Georges Lignier is currently in the hands of Benoît Stelhy, who took over the reins in 2007, having worked alongside his uncle Bernard (who took over from Georges) since 2002. The domaine appellation is astonishing, with prestigious holdings the likes of Clos Saint-Denis, where Georges Lignier is the most significant owner alongside a swathe of Clos de la Roche, Bonnes-Mares and more. The winemaking here is traditional: The grapes are cooled prior to fermentation (to 8˚C), ~30% whole-bunch and fermented with only indigenous yeasts. The wine is cooled before putting them in barrel with some lees, which helps give the wines softness. This is Burgundy without pretense, haltingly honest and extremely delicious.
