Nested in the edge of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Clos du Caillou was founded in 1895 when Élie Dussaud settled and created an old cellar. Today, the Domaine is in the hands of two talented winemakers, Sylvie Vacheron & Bruno Gaspard; both focused on perfecting the quality of their wines. Wines from Le Clos du Caillou are one of the most exceptional in the Côtes du Rhône appellation. Full-bodied – concentrated and richly textured. The vineyard’s old vines capture the spice and silk of old-vine Grenache grown in the region’s finest terroirs. Each wine reflects the native perfumes of the south, a harmonious blend of thyme, rosemary, and lavender that grows wild among the estate’s vines.

The La Réserve Rouge is both fresh and well-balanced. The winter was extremely cold, followed by a fresh and raining spring. The summer was dry and hot. The rains at the end of August and at the end of September, allowed the vegetation to perfect the maturity of the late grapes. The 2012 vintage is fresh with fine tannins that are beautifully balanced, and with attractive fruit. The level of alcohol is moderated, compare to 2011.
